The best way to train, is to follow your heart

Getting fit by using your heart rate as a guide.

This will prevent you from overdoing it, and on the flip side, it will make sure that you are training enough.

See the target Heart Rate Zones training chart here:

http://www.howtobefit.com/overview-heart-rate-training.htm

How do you determine your maximum Heart rate? (MHR)

This is the maximum recommended number of times your heart can contract at any given minute. An easy, relatively accurate way to determine your maximum heart rate (MHR) is by using this age-predicted formula: 220-age=MHR (for men), 226-age=MHR (for women).

Determine the Zones by using the formula found here:
http://www.betterbodz.com/Tom/heart_rate_training.html

Good Luck!!

What is SSIS? What is Heterogeneous?

SSIS

Microsoft) SQL Server Integration Services. A tool from Microsoft for easing the integration, cleansing and analysis of data from multiple, heterogeneous information sources.

Heterogeneous

Means that something (an object or system) consists of a diverse range of different items. It is the antonym of homogeneous, which means that an object or system consists of many identical items.

For a very thorough resource of more definitions, have a look at this site with a glossary of IT Terms with links : http://www.cryer.co.uk/glossary/

What is the Definition of RDBMS?

Relational DataBase Management System

- A relational database management system (RDBMS) is a program that lets you create, update, and administer a relational database. Most commercial RDBMS's use the Structured Query Language (SQL) to access the database, although SQL was invented after the development of the relational model and is not necessary for its use.
The leading RDBMS products are Oracle, IBM's DB2 and Microsoft's SQL Server. Despite repeated challenges by competing technologies, as well as the claim by some experts that no current RDBMS has fully implemented relational principles, the majority of new corporate databases are still being created and managed with an RDBMS.

The People of Life

Doers – They make things happen. They ask questions, are eager to learn. They are not afraid to stick their necks out to ask questions. They get things done, because they are on the leading edge and venture forward. They keep society moving forward and progressing. They are the leaders of society. They know what they want. They take life head-on. They are the brave. They have initiative. They are creative. They take the Land without fear.

Floaters – they just go with whatever is happening. They have resorted to accepting things as they are. They think about changing things, but never actually do them. They go with what the rest of society is doing. If everyone is going north, they do too. They never say “but, I think South is better”. They choose the path of least resistance. They are happy where they are in their comfort zones. They make no effort to change anything. These are the masses of society. They are the majority of the population. They follow the leaders. They may complain a lot about problems, but they never take action to change anything.

Watchers – These People don’t actively participate in life. They watch other people having fun and enjoying their lives and taking risks. These people stay the same for years. They live in the same house, the same suburb they went to school in, they go to work and back like clock-work mice. Nothing much changes. They have accepted their lives as being their “lot” in life. There is no initiative with this group of people. You could light a proverbial Bomb under them and they wouldn’t budge. They are stuck in a groove that suits them. Their lives are not exciting. They don’t participate in much. They are not moving forward. They are standing still. They miss out on a lot of life’s treasures, because they never venture out. They are scared of the unknown and very scared of taking risks or going where no man has gone before. They hate public speaking. They verge on Negativity and Pessimism. They normally only enjoy the simple things of life. They are happy with the basics, and don’t want to “rock the boat”. If they are unhappy with something, they normally are too pessimistic to change it( already telling themselves in their minds that their venture will be unsuccessful) and give up in their minds before taking a challenge.

Anti-doers – They are a negative bunch. They do a lot and say a lot. They are not afraid to speak their opinion. They are very pessimistic. They are not afraid to speak publicly and to speak their minds. They willing go against someone who has stood up for a cause. They criticise them and their efforts. They pull in the other direction to the majority. Their energy and effort goes into resisting the norm and causing a stir. They hate “do-gooders”. They are not happy people. They hate their lives. They are jealous of those who profess happiness, or who are happy most of the time. They love to knock someone off their pedestal if that person is doing well. These people are articulate and do not mince their words. They are conniving and clever. They are generally loners, or may form a following. They can become isolated heroes. But, most of the population will see the fault in them. They believe they have a unique talent and can see things that others can’t. They confront the Doers.

Been having Laptop problems, so I decided to do some .NET development on my desktop at home.. and guess what? It is Windows XP Home so it doesn't have IIS!! So, I can't do any asp.net web development...

Facebook

Well. they have blocked facebook at work. We all knew it was coming.. The messaging is free, so it is better than sending an sms to your friend. So, I feel blind today. Can't see any of my friends faces. Luckily, I have access at home.. :-)

Yesterday I started looking at the facebook developers kit.

Chinese

I went out on a dinner date last night and it was really great.
The Chinese restaurant(Jade Court) we went to, just happens to have buffet on a wednesday evening. It was a nice surprise..

I tried sushi for the first time.. (But only the Pure vegetable one)

There was a great variety of food, and we tasted a bit of everything. Needless to say, we were full afterwards.

It was a really enjoyable experience. And it is also a nice idea for a date, because it is not just one meal , eat and go.

We could take our time and chat between buffet courses. Needless to say, we were the last ones to leave the restuarant ;)

Enjoyed the wine too.( and the company) ;)

Blogging

I don't even know why I am bothering to blog, if www.blogger.com is not even allowing my keywords used in my blog to come up as a result of a google search. Even if I put the keywords in the search engine or the blog name it doesn't come up.. they had better fix this or esle I Am gonna shift my blog to another bloggin site.

I mean, isn't this blogging site a part of google? One has to login with your google account. One would expect google search engine to find : "Angel De-lites". But NO WAYS!!! hmmph. :-(

Dev Days was Super-fantastic

Wow, Yesterday was really great. Thanks to all the speakers and contributors!!
I enjoyed the sessions. Pity that I couldn't attend all. looking forward to downloading the Presentation files from the devdays site.

Next time Eben is in town, we will definitely get him to give us some more info on Silverlight.. And maybe Hilton can do an AJAX talk for SAdev ? There is always alot to absorb at Devdays, and a little refreshing, won't do any harm.

It was especially great to meet all of you at the after-party.

Some blogs were mentioned and one of them being:
Zlatan's Blog
http://dotnet.org.za/zlatan - So if your interested in sharepoint, have a look there.
Also Eben's blog: (He is the Microsoft .NET Developer Advisor in South Africa).

Also, a birdie has whispered in my ear, that someone is getting married in December ....... (and it's not me :-) ) At least this birdie is not flying away. He is staying in South Africa, and the bride-to-be will be moving here...

Enjoy your day!!

Lazy Weekend

Had a very lazy weekend. Spent most of the time in bed or watching DVD's. Well, I do have an excuse... the Flu.. I had to take Friday off Work, because all the primary school teachers were striking, and the school was closed. But, I ended up in bed with the Flu, anyway. I managed to get up and go to the chemist and get some Degoran. Which really helped douse the symptoms.

Back at work today. I feel rested and relaxed today, but I still have flu symptoms. I have to be at work, however, because I am a contractor, and I lose money for each hour not at work.

Tomorrow is DevDays , and I am really looking forward to it!! :-)

Struggling with a cold

Got the flu...." full blown" today. the sniffles, the coughs, sore throat.. u name it.
But I am at work though.. :-)
I have to be at work because of month-end publishing. Which so far, still needs to be checked and approved by the financial managers...

Keep holding those thumbs....(Even if they are blue)...

Today in the life of.....

Morning Everyone,

Today is a busy day at work, as it is the first day of automated stocktake result publishing from the web. This was previously done manually, but I have incorporated the program changes, so that when it has been authorised by the Divisional Financial Manager, that it gets written to a table for publishing on a certain day of the month....Which we extract into a file, which then goes into the SAP system

And of course there are always "technical glitches" that cannot be explained... :-)

So I have written SQL scripts to fix any technical glitches before publishing....

Lets hope the File is correct... hold Thumbs.....
